Since obtaining a graduate law degree in tax law in 1982, Mr. Ottenhoff has focused his practice on areas involving tax planning. In the business arena this focus includes assisting clients in organizing entities, buying and selling businesses, and merging and reorganizing entities. In the estate-planning arena it includes applying a variety of tools, from the very simplest to the most sophisticated, to accomplish the particular objectives of each client. Mr. Ottenhoff firmly believes that business and estate planning require a careful analysis of the needs of each client, and that a "cookie cutter" "one size fits all" approach has no place. Of particular interest to Mr. Ottenhoff is the intersection of business planning and estate planning involved in passing a family business from one generation to the next. Mr. Ottenhoff also has significant experience in advising non-profit organizations, having served as an organizer, board member, officer and general counsel for numerous non-profit organizations. As someone who has been directly involved in agriculture, raising both commercial and registered purebred cattle, Mr. Ottenhoff particularly enjoys practicing law in the rural setting of Northern Colorado, and working with farm and ranch clients. Before becoming a founding partner of the firm, Mr. Ottenhoff practiced law in Alamosa, Colorado, serving as a Deputy District Attorney, City Attorney and County Attorney in addition to maintaining a private practice. Representative business clients of Mr. Ottenhoff include Konig Ranch, Inc., Signature Bank, Cockroft Dairy LLC, Great Western Dairy LLC, Co's BMW Inc., AyMac Precision Inc., and High Plains Renewable Energy LLC., Limon Chrysler Dodge Jeep.
